Mega-Moolah progressive jackpot inks its name on the Guinness Books for biggest payout in history.

On 10 December 2015, Microgaming’s website officially announced that they have secured a spot on the Guinness Books of World Record after being awarded the title for ‘Largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game”. Microgaming shares this accolade with UK player Jon Heywood as he scooped a £13,213,838.68 (AUD 27,019,657.33) jackpot win on a 25p bet in Mega-Moolah online pokie, along with the operator Betway.

The Guinness Books of World Record verified the record after evidence was submitted by both Microgaming and Betway and a ratification from eCOGRA. The life-changing amount was won by the Cheshire soldier on 6th October, 2015.

A Guinness World Records spokesperson comments: “I’m pleased to confirm that the Guinness World Records title for the largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game is €17,879,645.12, which was won by Jonathan Heywood, while playing Microgaming’s Mega Moolah on Betway’s website. And Jon is certainly in the moolah now, thanks to his exceptional stroke of luck.

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, adds: “When news broke about Jon’s amazing jackpot win back in October, we were overjoyed – what an incredible and heart-warming story. We’ve achieved many industry records over the years, but to be officially awarded a Guinness World Records title is a special and proud moment for us all. It cements our position in providing the largest and most exciting progressive jackpot network in the industry. We can’t wait to hang the certificate in our office reception!
